Terms and conditions

The Carreras Panamá app is developed and operated by Xtrategy Consultants Int, Corp, owner of Carreras Panamá ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app you accept these terms and the Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The carreraspanama.com website is governed by its own terms and conditions. This is a translation of the Spanish version; if the two versions differ, the Spanish version prevails.

1. Your account

You must be at least 13 years old (if you are under 18, with the authorization of your mother, father or legal guardian), provide truthful information and keep your password safe. The account is personal: do not share or sell it. You are responsible for what is done with it. You can delete it at any time from the app.

2. Use of the app

We give you permission to use the app on your devices, for personal and non-commercial use. You may not:

copy, modify, decompile or try to obtain the code of the app or the server, except as permitted by law;
extract data from the app in an automated way or use other people's data for purposes unrelated to the app;
try to access other people's accounts, the administration panel or parts of the system that are not yours;
fake your location, your activities, certificates or QR codes, or use the app to bother, harass or endanger other people.

3. Activities, points, medals and results

Activities, medals and Prestige points must reflect your own real physical activity. We may cancel activities, points, medals or achievements obtained with false information (for example, routes covered in a vehicle, simulated locations or someone else's certificates) and suspend accounts that do so repeatedly. Points, ranks, virtual medals and achievements are a recognition within the app: they have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred to another account. The official race results are those published on carreraspanama.com; measurements from the phone's or watch's GPS are approximate.

4. Health and safety

AI Training plans (generated automatically), statistics, pace and heart rate data are guidance only and are not medical advice. Consult a health professional before starting or changing a training plan, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath. The AI coach's answers are generated by an artificial intelligence system: they can be wrong, they are not a diagnosis and they do not replace a doctor or a physiotherapist. If pain is severe, does not improve or gets worse, see a professional. The coach's free requests are limited and may become part of a paid plan. Run carefully, follow traffic rules and do not look at your phone while crossing streets.

5. Guided routes and recommended routes

Guided routes show the official route of an event and announce it by voice so you can train on it. Outside race day the streets are not closed to traffic: you decide where and when to run, and you must respect traffic, signs and other people. On race day, the instructions of the organizers and the staff on the course take precedence. Directions depend on GPS and may arrive late, not arrive at all or not match recent changes to the route.

Recommended routes are published by other runners (or by Carreras Panamá, those marked as official) as training suggestions. We do not review each one before it is published, we do not guarantee that they are open, safe or that their data is accurate, and you run them at your own risk. If a route is dangerous or shows a private location, report it from the app and we will review it. The Prestige points a recommended route gives (to whoever published it, when other people run it) follow the same rules as all other points: they have no cash value and we may remove them if they are obtained by cheating.

6. Live tracking

Sharing live is optional and you decide who you share the code with. Anyone who has it will see where you are while you run. Your location is updated every few seconds and depends on your phone's signal, so it may be delayed or stop. It is not a safety or emergency service: do not use it as your only way to ask for help. In an emergency in Panama, call 911.

7. Communities and training sessions

Training sessions are organized by communities and independent coaches, who are responsible for their content, cost, safety and conduct. Carreras Panamá only facilitates their publication, membership and attendance confirmation, and is not a party to the agreements you make with them. The administrators of each organization may accept, reject, suspend or remove members according to their own rules.

8. Promotions and News

Promotions are offered by partner brands and are subject to their conditions, validity and availability. Each code can be used only once, is personal and is validated by the brand. The brand is responsible for the product or service it offers.

In News we publish news, product launches, achievements and community stories. Posts written by a brand or organization show its name ("By …") and, if paid, are labeled "Sponsored". Carreras Panamá reviews them before they are published, but each organization is responsible for what it says about its products, prices and services, and for having permission from the people who appear. This content is informational: it does not replace advice from a doctor or coach.

9. Events and registrations

Race registrations are completed on carreraspanama.com and are governed by its terms and conditions. Prices, categories, benefits and the refund policy are set by the organizer of each event. Payments are processed by PagueloFácil or Banco General (Yappy); the app does not process payments. If you use "My race registration details", you are responsible for their accuracy.

10. Content you share

You are responsible for what you post in the app (recommended routes, comments, activities, photos and texts). Do not publish routes that go through private property or dangerous areas. Content that is offensive, violent, sexual, discriminatory, illegal, promotional or that belongs to other people without their permission is not allowed; we may remove it and suspend the account. If you see something like this, write to us at administracion@carreraspanama.com. The activities, photos and texts you upload remain yours; you authorize us to store and display them within the app according to what you choose to share, and that authorization ends when you delete them or delete your account.

11. Intellectual property

All the content of the app (brand, logos, design, texts, virtual medals, routes and software) belongs to Xtrategy Consultants Int, Corp or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. It may not be reproduced without prior written authorization. Maps are © OpenStreetMap contributors and © Stadia Maps.

12. Suspension and changes to the service

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, letting you know when possible. We may also change, add or remove features of the app. Some features could become paid in the future; if that happens we will tell you beforehand and you will never be charged without your agreement.

13. Liability

We do our best to make the app work well, but it is offered "as is" and may have interruptions or errors. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injuries, accidents or damages arising from physical activity, routes or training sessions, nor for loss of data, and our total liability will never exceed what you have paid for the app (currently, nothing). Nothing in this limits the rights that consumer protection law grants you and that cannot be waived.

14. App Store and Google Play

If you downloaded the app from the App Store, these terms are between you and Xtrategy Consultants Int, Corp, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to maintain or support it and is not liable for claims about it (including product, legal compliance or third-party intellectual property claims); if the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty you may notify Apple, which will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. The App Store usage rules also apply and, on Android, those of Google Play.

15. Changes, language and governing law

We may update these terms; we will let you know in the app before they apply, and if you continue using it afterwards you will be deemed to accept them. This English version is a translation; if it differs from the Spanish version, the Spanish version prevails. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Panama and any dispute will be resolved before the courts of the Republic of Panama. Questions: administracion@carreraspanama.com.
